My role at Uprising: The Paint Fight was to oversee all the marketing and creative efforts. Before my hire, Uprising was only doing two events a year and marketing entirely through word of mouth.
In the first 12 months of joining the team, we scaled the business by 4,000%. Not only did we do more events, but we were also able to 2x, 4x, and even 10x attendees at each event.
Using multiple marketing channels, including Radio, Flyers, and Social Media, we could get 1,500 – 5,000 attendees per event.
I became one of the first 1,000 mobile advertisers on Facebook in 2013. I was able to train alongside some of the Facebook Algorithm designers. By utilizing Facebook to advertise, we could market in areas where the company didn’t already have a presence. This enabled ticket sales to soar past $1,000,000 in 12 months for our small team of 5 people. We leveraged volunteers to keep our costs low, and I would direct teams of 50-100 volunteers for each event.
All the shirts & merch were under my creative direction. I managed the merch sales team at events, which added another $3k-$8k per event.

One way to create ‘buzz’ for events was to advertise an article to learn more about a
“color festival”. This would be an early touch-point for potential attendees.
